Both of Kenji Wu KeQun's Concerts Canceled; Eyes Red From Crying, He Could Only Cry Out That He Had Let His Fans Down

Kenji Wu KeQun already canceled one of his concerts-- the first of his life-- in response to the aggravation of his health condition (prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc); however, today, under the intense pleadings and wishes from Kenji's own mother that he cancel both concerts, 種子音樂 Seed Music president 田定豐 Tian DingFeng, who also had Kenji's health in mind, went ahead and gave the order to cancel. The concert organizers had no choice but to cancel both concerts; they are estimated to have lost $20,000,000 NTD as a result.

Kenji's long-time basketball injury evolved into prolapse of lumbar intervertebral disc; he has been receiving steroid injections for months in an effort to control the condition. Kenji's manager found it difficult to hide his sadness as he expressed that Kenji had really been very diligent, putting a lot of time, heart, and effort, into preparing for the concerts. In their four years together, he had never seen Kenji cry so much or so hard. On the one hand, Kenji was angry that his own body couldn't withstand the stress; on the other hand, he was extremely upset that he couldn't fulfill the "promise" and commitment he had made to his fans.
* Translator's Note: Actually, the article doesn't say whether Kenji's manager is a man or a woman. I went with "he," but there is every possibility that it should be "she."

Kenji said, "Because of this condition, every day, when I get up and out of bed, I have to go through a struggle. Every day, lying in bed, it hurts so much that I want to swear, to use obscenities. In order for me to be able to practice dancing, practice singing... every week, I have to get a steroid injection. Even if, every day, my face swells more and more, and I wind up with a "moon face"-- it doesn't matter. But now, having to cancel my concerts-- I really feel that I have failed all the fans who have supported me; I have really failed; I have let them down."
* Translator's Note: Steroid injections will often cause one's face to swell up, thus making the patient look like he has a "moon face."

Kenji, described by workers as "extremely ㄍㄧㄥ (will hold it in)," had originally planned to grit his teeth through the pain and undergo both "rehab" and rehearsal at the same time in order to pass through the concert. However, his physician was closely monitoring his health; he has already been undergoing steroid injections (to lessen the inflammation of his nerves) for several months. His condition has, unfortunately, not gotten better; if he continues to push his body beyond its limits and his lower body continues to feel numb, it is quite possible that he will develop hemiplegia (paralysis of half of the body). The physician strongly recommended that he cancel both of his concerts and undergo surgery to remove the elastic cartilage which has shifted and is currently repressing his nervous system.

According to our sources, afraid of worrying his mother, Kenji hid the seriousness of his condition from her. He hadn't counted on his mother reading about the cancellation of his concerts-- and his medical condition-- in the newspaper. Immediately after reading the article, Wu MaMa contacted 種子音樂 Seed Music president 田定豐 Tian DingFeng and pleaded intensely with him her position: that Kenji cancel both concerts. In a very earnest voice, she said that she hoped the agency could consider the feelings of a mother. She was very worried about Kenji's health and his health condition. She hoped that Kenji could focus on recuperating and that he wouldn't allow his first concert to also be his last!
