The first edition of Elva Hsiao YaXuan's CD, 三面夏娃/Three-Faced Elva, will be released on the 15th. Last weekend, Elva was given a newly-printed sample of the album cover by an employee to review; unfortunately, the employee accidentally left the sample album cover in the taxi on the return trip!
Upon learning of the sample cover's disappearance, Elva and her team were extremely nervous, anxious that, if the cover fell into the wrong hands, it could be used as a template for manufacturing the covers of pirated copies of Elva's album. Elva's manager, Chen XiangJun, expressed that, upon hearing the news, she immediately felt as though her heart had stopped. Everyone tried to console both her and Elva, saying that receiving a "scare" before the release is a good thing-- that good fortune always follows disaster.* Elva, however, was worried that the early leak of the album cover would rob her fans of a certain element of surprise.
Translator's Note: Although this is not mentioned in the article, the basis for this kind of "thinking" is the Chinese chengyu 否極泰來 pi ji tai lai. I have inserted the English translation, "good fortune comes after disaster," into the article to better explain the "perspective" of the workers.
This isn't the only scare Elva's had over the album's release. Elva filmed the MV for 衝動 [Chong Dong] [Impulsive], which is not scheduled to air until mid-June, with 張赫 Zhang He; unfortunately, stage photos of their interaction were leaked to the public at the end of May. Now, with even the sample album cover lost during transportation, Elva could only express jokingly that she hoped that all these "misfortunes" were, in fact, premonitions for great sales.
