Taiwanese popular idol Chun in his new film “Butterfly Lovers” has a scene where he has to take off his clothes. His 6-pack body makes many female fans crazy. However Chun revealed that he personally did not want to take off his clothes. In the movie, Chun gives his first on-screen movie kiss to Charlene but he says that it is a pity that the kiss was not romantic enough, but luckily, he and Charlene developed feelings from eating together.

Yesterday Chun came to Singapore to promote “Butterfly Lovers” and he accepted an interview. In the movie, Chun has one scene where he takes off his clothes by the riverside, and shows off his good body, receiving many praises from female fans. However, Chun personally did not want to take off, he says, “It’s been a long time since I’ve had a proper workout, probably 3 years already, if I really have to take off his clothes, then at least give me some time to workout my body, but luckily my body hasn’t gone out of shape yet.” (So why did you still take off your clothes in the end?) Because director told me to, so I had to.”

Comparing with the original “Butterfly Lovers”, Chun thinks that the greatest thing about his character is that he has the courage to go after his love, “The previous character is quite fragile, and the director was very angry when he saw this, hence he plans my character as very brave and courageous, and goes after love, not giving up.”

Many of Chun’s friends have often asked him, if he and one of his good friends like the same girl, will he give up? Chun replied, “I won’t give up, but rather let the girl decide for herself, unless she chooses my friend, then maybe I will give up.” When he meets his other half, Chun says that he is willing to give up his everything for her, “When the feeling is right, and we’ve known each other for a while, if she is the one I want to marry, then I am willing to give up everything to be with her. Happiness is very important to me, and my other half will definitely bring happiness to me.”

First on-screen movie kiss; bad atmosphere

Chun gives his first on-screen movie kiss to Charlene, when asked about his feelings of the kiss, he replied, “Because we are filming traditional, the kiss scene wasn’t very exaggerated, so our lips just touched. But, this first movie kiss of mine isn’t very good, the atmosphere is quite bad, because it is under the circumstance of me thinking she is dead, that’s why I kiss her, the mood is very sad and tragic, so hopefully the next time I film a kiss scene, it will be more romantic.”

Apparantly, when Charlene knew of the kiss scene, she had been looking forward to it, because she feels honoured to take Chun’s first on-screen movie kiss. After Chun heard this, he asked, “Really? (Did you look forward to it too?) I only knew about the kiss scene on the day we were going to film it, so at the most I only had a few hours to look forward to it.”

However, is Chun worried that this kiss will make Charlene’s rumoured boyfriend Ronald Cheng unhappy? Chun very professionally answered, “I didn’t think that much, and I don’t know if their rumours are real or not, I think of kiss scenes as a part of my job.”

In the movie, Chun also has to massage Charlene’s feet, he said, “very awkward, because even if it was girlfriend, at the most it would just be holding hands, rarely would I encounter feet.”

Director often invites them out to eat together

Charlene has much more experience in filming movies than Chun, did she pass on any tips to him? Chun replied, “She didn’t teach me how to act, but rather she let me feel very comfortable and at ease, sometimes when we chat, she would give me some tips. We also developed feelings from eating together all the time.”

Immediately after he said this, he realized he had said the “wrong” thing, and hurriedly explained, “Not feelings of love, but friendship, friendship, we got friendship feelings from eating! The director also loved to eat, and often invited us out to eat together, we would talk about everything.”

Chun loves to eat so much, even if his future other half does not love to eat, he is not worried, “She will be affected by me (What if she gets fat?) It doesn’t matter, that way it will feel more comfortable when I hug her, haha!”

Box office pressure

The first time filming a movie, and Chun already has crying scenes, kiss scenes, and action scenes. He says that each of these require a lot of feelings put into it, “Everyday, my mood will fluctuate a lot, because during filming, it’s always very sad, but after filming, the director will take us out to eat dinner and then I will laugh and feel very happy, but then the next day, it’s back to filming and feeling sad again.” However, Chun still feels that his excitement exceeds his hard work, “Filming a movie is a dream I have had ever since I entered the entertainment industry, and I’m happy that I got to work with such an awesome cast and director.”

Comparing movies with idol dramas, Chun gives 2 differences, “Idol drama protects a person too well, makes the audience think you are perfect, but in movies, audience will see your good points and your bad points.”

Because Chun initiated asking his management company to allow him to film “Butterfly Lovers”, his greatest pressure is box office results. He says, “Initially I was only going to choose one between ‘Hot Shot’ and ‘Butterfly Lovers’, previously, I have given up a few chances of filming movie, and in the end, my management company let me choose ‘Butterfly Lovers’, but I also had to film ‘Hot Shot’ so I feel a lot of pressure, scared that I won’t be able to film well.” So what grade does he give himself? Chun thinks that it’s “very hard to grade, I think I still have a lot of room for improvement.”
