Joe Cheng YuanChang and Ariel Lin YiChen Team Up In New Romantic Comedy; Both Are Experts At "Saving Money"

GTV and SanFeng's new joint effort, a light romantic comedy called Love or Bread, will be teaming up with a Mainland China production company for filming purposes; they will be scouting the Mainland for appropriate scenery and shooting locations. They held their opening press conference yesterday; actors Joe Cheng YuanChang, Ariel Lin YiChen, Bryant Chang RuiJia, Angus Chang YuChen, Guo ZiQian, Lin MeiXiu, Huang WenXing, Rachel Fu TianYing, and Ma GuoBi were all present, thus livening up the atmosphere.

Love or Bread addresses the choice that many modern men and women must face: love or money? They managed to bring out this theme at the press conference by preparing large amounts of over-sized bills and allowing the actors to pose humorously with them. They also littered and filled the venue with millions of paper bills to bring good luck to their filming process. When asked whether or not they had ever been faced with a "love or money" decision in real life, Ariel replied, "As long as you have enough money to live, it's enough. It's more important to have freedom!"

Joe will be challenging himself with the role of an overly ambitious young good-for-nothing named 法蘭克 (Frank) who has a mountain of debt. How, then, to portray someone so nonchalant and lazy? Joe said, "The director told me to observe him! The way he speaks is very roguish and devious."

Ariel's character in the drama, 曾善美 Zeng ShanMei, has been given a hard lot in life. She works four jobs in order to support her family; one moment, she is working as a member of the cleaning staff at a large building complex; the next, she is kneeling on the floor of a fast food restaurant, scrubbing vigorously. To take on this role, Ariel completely ignores and sacrifices her "image," making herself appear ugly... does she worry about the possible damage to her "Jade Maiden" image? She said confidently, "This has never been a problem for me!

The pair have quite a mature outlook on money matters: Joe has only two credit cards. One is used exclusively for trips abroad; the other remains unused. He turns his investment matters over completely to his financial advisor; Ariel's situation is almost exactly the same as Joe's, lacking only bonds in her portfolio. Their largest expenditures to date have also been the same: houses and housing loans. Although both are "experts" at saving money and being economical, Joe admits that he cannot resist large, sumptuous meals. Ariel, meanwhile, still shares a card with her mother; neither of the actors, however, have a history of overcharging or overloading their cards.
